Brakpan SAPS calls on businesses to step up for community support

A collaborative charity effort between local police, CPF members and the Bold and Brave Youth Foundation ensured that vulnerable women and children received much-needed clothing and essentials.

Brakpan SAPS Sector 1 manager and communications officer Constable Audrey Buthelezi joined hands with the Bold and Brave Youth Foundation on February 21 for a charity drive aimed at collecting clothes, toys and household items for donation to communities in need.

The beneficiaries of the donations were community members from the Mkhancwa informal settlement in Maryvlei.

According to Buthelezi, women and children of all ages, including newborn babies, received clothes, shoes, hand-knitted wool blankets, toys and other items. Around 200 community members attended, and everyone received donations.

Local police are grateful to the members of the foundation, CPF members from Mkhancwa, Mngongo and the CBD, led by CPF Sector 1 chairperson Simon Mabuse, a stakeholder from the Siyabangena Patrollers, and the church that provided the venue for distributing the donations.

“Brakpan SAPS is thankful to every business, church and individual who contributed,” said Buthelezi.

She urged the public to support this common goal of addressing pressing social, environmental and humanitarian issues.

Buthelezi further encourages businesses to assist communities as part of their corporate social responsibility initiatives.

The charity drive is ongoing, and drop-offs can be made at the Brakpan Police Station or by contacting Buthelezi on 071 675 6954 for collection within the Brakpan area.
