Deon Pieterse, a private investigator, is building a case against a husband and wife, formerly from Northmead, Benoni, for allegedly committing fraud amounting to almost R10m.

According to Pieterse, he is investigating seven cases of fraud committed between 2018 and 2025 with complainants residing in Brakpan, Boksburg, Benoni, and Germiston.

“Information indicates that the complainants enlisted the services of the couple to service, refurbish and modify their vehicles.

“It is alleged that the vehicles would, in the process, be stripped bare, with parts often used to complete work on another vehicle and with work seldom fully completed despite complainants having paid for services.

“This involved vintage and performance vehicles, as well as motorcycles.”

He stated that the couple relied entirely on word-of-mouth referrals and that their home address was referenced on invoices.

Cases against the pair have been opened at Benoni and Boksburg North SAPS, with investigations continuing. Pieterse said processes are underway to obtain warrants of arrest, and it is expected that the cases will be centralised.

“In an effort to ensure an iron-clad case is brought against the couple, we are calling anyone who may have fallen victim to their schemes to make contact with me.

“Strong evidence will ensure that they are brought to book and face the full might of the law.”
