E-hailing driver, passenger robbed at gunpoint in Leachville

The robbers fled after stealing the driver's cellphone and the passenger's belongings.

An e-hailing driver and his customer were robbed at gunpoint in Leachville by the occupants of a blue Renault Triber on the evening of July 24.

Information provided by police indicates that the driver, travelling in a white Suzuki S-Presso, picked up a customer from Dalpark at around 19:00 to take her to an address along Dikbas Crescent.

Upon arriving at the property, the driver parked at the gate and the passenger exited the vehicle.
The Renault then pulled up alongside the vehicle and two men got out.

One pointed a firearm at the driver and demanded money and his cellphone.

The other robber approached the passenger, who was at the gate, and took her belongings, which were not disclosed.

The driver’s cellphone was stolen, and the duo then fled the scene. Brakpan police are investigating a case of armed robbery.
