Two-night hijacking spree hits Brakpan
Two hijackings were reported in Brakpan within two days, with a Brenthurst man shot during the latest incident.
A 30-year-old Brenthurst man was shot during a hijacking outside his Tinker Road home on the evening of August 10, in the second hijacking reported in Brakpan in two days.
According to police information, the victim was travelling with his sister in a white Volkswagen Polo, with him driving, when they arrived home at around 21:15.
They both climbed out of the vehicle, and the sister opened the gate while her brother stood guard.
As the brother was returning to the Polo, his sister noticed a white vehicle approaching and stopping not far from them.
She became scared and ran away, with her brother following. The sister then heard a gun being fired.

About two to three shots were fired, after which she heard the men shouting, “Let’s go.”
The hijackers drove off in her brother’s vehicle. The sister rushed to check on her brother and found him bleeding.
Her other brother came out of the house and rushed the injured man to the Far East Rand Hospital in his own vehicle.
It is reported the hijacked Polo was later recovered in Springs. A hijacking and attempted murder case is under investigation by Brakpan SAPS.
The previous evening at about 22:00, the driver of a grey Isuzu was targeted by hijackers masquerading as law enforcement along Louw Street in Dalpark.

A BMW travelling behind the driver flashed blue lights, with the occupants instructing him to pull over, which he did.
The BMW stopped behind him, and three men got out, greeted the driver and asked whether he had anything illegal in his possession.
They then asked to search the vehicle. The driver agreed and got our to help them open the boot. One of the men then pointed a gun at the driver and pushed him into the back seat.
Two of the hijackers got into the vehicle, with one sitting in the driver’s seat and the other in the passenger seat.
They drove with him before dropping him off in Dunswart, Boksburg. A hijacking and kidnapping case was opened.
