From August 24 to 31, Benoni Flying Squad members arrested fifteen suspects, recovered drugs, a truck and two trailers.

The abandoned hijacked white Mercedes Actros truck and two trailers were recovered, abandoned along Airport Road in Dalpark reported on a Heidelberg case.

In further policing, 13 suspects, aged 24 to 43, were arrested for drug-related offences in separate incidents along Neutron Road in Vulcania, on North Rand, Monument and Park roads in Kempton Park, on Tsavo North Street in Barcelone Ext 3, Etwatwa, on Mocke Street in Daveyton, and on Jay, Tuinfluiter, Honeybird and Boshof streets in Rabie Ridge.

Crystal methamphetamine, cat (cocaine), nyaope (heroine) and mandrax was recovered in these incidents.

On August 28, members patrolling along the N12 towards Johannesburg pulled over a white Ford Ranger at the Snake Road offramp in Benoni.

The driver was immediately arrested when members found 15 bags of dagga valued at around R5 000 in the back of the Ranger.

At around 00:30 on August 31, members patrolling the R21 towards OR Tambo attempted to pull over a white Toyota Quantum with two occupants at the R25 offramp.

The Quantum continued driving and members called for back-up from colleagues. When back-up arrived, they managed to bring the vehicle to a standstill at the Voortrekker offramp on the R21.

Inside the Quantum members discovered 10 large bags of dagga valued at around R20 000.

The suspects, aged 37 and 45, were immediately arrested whereupon members were offered R10 000 for the suspects release which led to an additional charge of bribery.

The cash and dagga were handed in as an exhibit and the Quantum impounded.
Investigation continues in all cases.

The suspects appeared and will appear in the local magistrate’s courts facing charges of possession of and dealing in drugs, as well as bribery.
