The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past weekend:

Friday – A cellphone was stolen from a vehicle parked in Devon Street, Dalview.

Money was transferred from the victim’s bank account, allegedly using the banking app installed on the stolen device.

• A pair of shoes were stolen from a vehicle parked at an address along Bobstay Road in Dalpark Ext 1.
• A man was threatened with a panga and robbed along Voortrekker Road.

The victim was walking home at about 19:00 when a woman approached him and requested financial assistance. He agreed to help, and the pair walked to an ATM where he intended to make a deposit.

While walking, an armed man approached and threatened the victim with a panga, demanding to know what he was doing with his girlfriend.

The assailant punched the victim to the ground and continued the physical assault. The attacker then held the panga against the victim’s neck before stealing his cellphone and R200 in cash.

The robber then fled the scene. The woman had reportedly pleaded with the attacker to stop the assault.

• Saturday – A man was arrested after a vehicle parked at an address along Taft Avenue was broken into.

Two dashcams, a car radio, and the vehicle’s battery were stolen. The handle of a sliding door to a workshop on the property was also damaged.

• Sunday – No priority cases were reported at the time of publication.
