Man shot during 1 of 2 Friday night hijackings in Brakpan
One man was shot in the leg and two vehicles were stolen during incidents in Derby Avenue and Brenthurst.
Brakpan motorists were targeted in two separate hijackings within 10 minutes on the evening of September 18, leaving one man shot in the thigh.
According to police information, the first incident took place at a property along Derby Avenue at about 19:30.
The driver of a white Nissan NP200 arrived home and parked his car. He opened the gate and entered the yard on foot to open the garage door.
While opening the garage, a man approached him from behind and hit him on the back of the head.

It is not disclosed exactly how many perpetrators were involved. The assailant demanded money, which the victim told him he did not have.
The man then demanded the victim’s cellphone, with the victim telling him he did not have one. During the commotion, a tenant at the property arrived, reportedly in an attempt to assist the victim.
Shots were fired, and the tenant was injured in his thigh.
The victim’s car was then driven away. The injured tenant was taken by ambulance to the Far East Rand Hospital.

The second incident took place at about 19:40 on Collins Street in Brenthurst. The driver of a white Volkswagen Polo was parked at an address along the street when he was confronted by two men armed with guns.
One was at the driver’s side, while the other was at the passenger side, both with their guns pointed at him.
The victim was instructed to open the doors, and the pair got into the car and drove off with him.
While driving, the victim jumped out of the moving vehicle. The hijackers shot at him, but missed their target. Both cases are under investigation by the Brakpan police.
