Excitement at junior rugby
the Brakpan Rugby Junior Club played host to Benoni and Meyerton.
It was all excitement when Brakpan Rugby Junior Club hosted their first matches of the season at Bosman Stadium.
They hosted the tag rugby matches at U6, U7 and U8 levels and matches at the U13 level. Brakpan hosted junior teams from Meyerton and Benoni.
“It went very well because we saw our U10 side win two games out of two games,” said club chairperson Japie van Nieuwenhuiz.
“Our U13s also won both games. Then the others had a mix of wins and losses.”

The tag rugby (U6 to U8) games went as follows: U6 Brakpan beat Benoni 11-2, U7 Brakpan lost to Benoni 1-5, and U8 Brakpan beat Meyerton 4-1.
The normal matches (U9 to U13) went as follows: U9 Meyerton beat Brakpan 10-0, U11 Benoni beat Brakpan 25-0, U12 Benoni beat Brakpan 15-5, U13 Brakpan beat Benoni 37-0 and Meyerton 55-5.
“It was a good day for Brakpan Junior Club,” said Van Nieuwenhuiz.
The matches looked competitive despite not being for any league in particular.
