It is alleged the man attempted to drive through the subway when his vehicle became submerged in water.

He is believed to have drowned.

City of Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services spokesperson William Ntladi told the Herald a sedan vehicle was recovered.

“Search and recovery is complete,” he said, adding that SAPS conducted a scene investigation.

Most of the water in the subway had subsided by the evening.
