Pedestrian targeted in armed robbery in Anzac

A pedestrian was threatened and robbed at gunpoint at the corner of Elliot Road and Abercorn Avenue.

Brakpan police are investigating cases of attempted murder and armed robbery after a pedestrian was targeted by the occupants of a blue Opel Kadett in Anzac on January 16.

According to police information, the victim was walking at the corner of Elliot Road and Abercorn Avenue at around 03:45 when the vehicle drove past, made a U-turn, and stopped in front of him.

A passenger from the back seat then exited the vehicle, pointed a firearm at the victim, and demanded his bag containing personal belongings.

The following day, the same vehicle was reportedly spotted again. When the victim attempted to stop it, the driver allegedly pointed a firearm at him.

The victim ran off, and a shot was reportedly fired.
