Motorcyclist ambushed by hijackers on Airport Drive
The rider lost control of the bike after two shots were fired.
Shots were fired during a motorcycle hijacking in Dalpark on the evening of September 24.
According to police information, the rider of a black Lifan motorcycle was travelling along Airport Drive just after 20:00 when he noticed four men standing on one side of the road.
There was a lone man on the opposite side. As the rider approached, the men attempted to grab the bike’s handlebars.
The rider managed to evade his assailants, but they then tried getting him off the bike by a pulling a length of rope across the road.
This also failed to stop the rider. However, as he drove away, he heard two shots being fired.
He lost control of the bike and fell to the ground. The rider ran off, and the men took his motorcycle valued at R20 000. A hijacking case is under investigation by Brakpan SAPS.
