Brakpan police are investigating a case of murder after a 46-year-old man was shot and killed on the evening of September 28.

Despite a friend’s effort to get him medical attention, the victim was declared dead at a local hospital.

Police information reveals the shooting took place at the corner of Prince George and Hamilton avenues.

It is reported that several shots were fired. An unidentified vehicle was seen speeding from the scene.

Police were notified of the incident just before 21:30 and proceeded to the hospital, where the victim’s friend had taken him.

The responding officer noted the victim sustained a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim’s body was taken to the Springs Mortuary.

At the time of publication, no arrests had been made and the motive for the shooting was unknown.
