#Elections2026: Voters show up for special vote

Special voting is only available to individuals who applied in advance and received official approval.

The voting station at Laerskool Dalview is open for registered approved voters who are participating in special votes ahead of tomorrow’s Local Government Elections.

Special voting started yesterday. An official at this station, who wished to remain unnamed, described today and yesterday as quiet, saying that a few voters had cast their ballots.

Some voters who arrived while the Brakpan Herald was on site were unaware that they had to apply for a special vote.

They believed that because they were registered to vote and qualified for the special vote due to age and disability status, they could arrive and vote a day early.

These voters were informed that they couldn’t vote today, and were told to return tomorrow where they would receive priority access due to their circumstances.

If you are registered to vote, but did not apply for a special vote ahead of the elections, you will need to cast your ballot tomorrow.
