For three-and-a-half years.

Yes, I have been working in the property industry for over 20 years.

I started as a receptionist at a property managing company, managing residential townhouse complexes and managing malls in Sandton and Rosebank.

Working hand-in-hand with our leasing, finance, marketing and operational teams which includes security/cleaning/contractors and our great team of tenants.

Every day is different, with many happy rewarding moments and many challenging moments, but most of all my staff.

I am very fortunate to have the most amazing people (my family) which definitely gets you through those tough days

Caring for the aged, visiting an old age home every weekend.

• What is the most important lesson life has taught you?

Never be arrogant or think you are better than others and to never forget where we come from.

Professionally, taking our mall to a higher level, and personally to keep positive and strive for the impossible.

• If you had the power to solve one and only one problem in the world, what would it be and why?

Feeding the hungry and caring for the homeless and aged, because we could all be there one day.

Photo albums of my family, my rosary, cellphone, my blood pressure tablets and my car.

To have been alive during the biblical era.

• Who or what inspires you?

Truthfully – all security guards/car attendants, cleaners in all malls and work places and SAPS officers – not the easiest of jobs but yet they are some of the most positive people you will ever meet, getting up those early mornings and leaving late at night, having to witness unpleasant scenes, criminal activities – I salute you all.

• What do you feel you have bragging rights to?

Raising my two beautiful babies who are now smart, successful women.

• What is your favourite thing about Brakpan?

The open air, it’s not as commercialised as other hubs in Gauteng, and the people.

I am amazed how friendly and kind the people are, so humble, it’s something a lot of people have lost in other areas of Gauteng.

At Caxton, we employ humans to generate daily fresh news, not AI intervention. Happy reading!
