Dalview resident Heinrich Nieuwoudt (36) is a patrol officer for the Brakpan Sector Two CPF.
He is married to Olivia (35) and has two children, Abbygail (11) and Heinrico (10).
• For how long have you been involved with the Brakpan CPF?
Almost a year.
• What made you join the CPF?
I refused to become a statistic and decided to fight back for the sake of my family and the community.
• Why is the CPF important in the fight against crime?
You become your neighbour’s keeper and response times are kept to a minimum if everyone is looking out for everyone else.
• What do you think is the solution to South Africa’s crime problem?
Harsher incarceration times for convicted criminals, putting the law back in SAPS’s hands and enforcing by-laws.
• What is your occupation?
Electrical project engineer.
• Do you have any hobbies or special interests?
Motorcycling over weekends, hunting, camping and fishing.
• If you had the power to solve one and only one problem in the world, what would it be and why?
Racial issues.
This will solve a multitude of unnecessary and uncalled-for conflict.
• What motivates you?
To see the results in the crime statistics due to the visibility and regular patrols in our area.
• How would you describe yourself?
Dedicated and hard working.
I’m a go-getter and when I put my mind to something I will give it my all to make a success of it.
• What is your favourite thing about Brakpan?
Our community, everyone is always friendly and helpful, with a down-to-earth outlook on life.
• What do you see as the greatest strength of this community?
Standing together in times of need.
• What is your greatest concern for this community?
All the sectors in town not standing together, thus giving criminals the upper hand.
• What do you see as its greatest needs?
The extreme poverty in our town where the children suffer the most.
