XKT hosts one of Africa’s biggest tournaments
Fighters from all over get together in Brakpan.
Brakpan-based XKT (Xtreme Kickboxing Technologies) president and Great North 2 Tournament director Shihan Raymond Phillips, hosted one of the biggest kickboxing events in Africa, sanctioned by SAAKA, at the Brakpan Indoor Sports Centre, on Saturday, August 17.
Fighters came from all over Southern Africa and as far a field as the Eastern Cape, Limpopo, Thabazimbi, Mpumalanga (Barberton, Nelspruit and more), Sebedeng and North West.
It was action from start to finish and all the fighters did their utmost to take home gold from the tournament.
Phillips said that he was very pleased and with the outcome of the tournament and blessed with the support he received from all the trainers and fighters that made this annual event a great success.
“Kickboxing is one of the most demanding contact sports and it takes a lot of courage to step onto the Tatami floor or into the ring,” he said.
Phillips quoted a saying that he learned from an old Japanese instructor that he once trained with, and said: “It is not about winning, but in the taking part.
“Keep your body strong and fit and don’t do drugs.”
