Introducing youngsters to the sport of tennis
Grass court tennis tournament for junior players.
The Coached by Nell Tennis Academy, in association with Ace Tennis Academy, will host a mini grass tournament on the sports fields at Hoërskool Die Anker, on Friday, August 29.
The tournament will take place from 2pm to 6pm.
Ace Tennis Academy held its first ever grass court tournament at Germiston Tennis Club in November 2012 and a wonderful time was had by young participants from all over the Gauteng East region.
The tournament will implement the Play n Stay format, which introduces children to the sport of tennis, and coach Etienne de Wet has taken it one step further by hosting the tournament on grass courts.
The main focus of the tournament is simply the enjoyment of the game and not the “win at all costs factors” which may be associated with other junior tournaments.
Learning to play tennis on grass courts has advantages over normal courts; obviously no tennis shoes are required, parents are closer to the action, which creates a more relaxed environment for youngsters to learn the sport, while the risk of injury is drastically minimized.
The day promises to be fun filled for the whole family.
Parents who would like their children to take part in the tournament can contact Ronel Beukes, of Coached by Nell Tennis Academy, on 061 430 5361.
