Brakpan Mines members to represent the district

A number of bowlers from the Brakpan Mines Bowling Club will represent Ekurhuleni Bowls at the upcoming provincial tournaments.
Players selected for the South African Bowls Open Inter-District Championship will play in Ekurhuleni at the Edenvale Bowling Club from April 4 to April 8.
They are Trevor Glandfield (team manager), Thinus Oelofse, Tom De Scally, Cecil Behrens and Wade Ferguson.
Bowlers from the club who will represent the district in the Ekurhuleni Bowls senior side are Ashley van der Muller (manager), Cliff Reynolds, John Drysdale and Duncan Ross.
The Ekurhuleni B-side that will play in the Bowls South Africa “B” Open Inter-District Championship at the Port Elizabeth Bowling Club from April 4 to April 8 will be managed by Brakpan Mines member Colin Botha.
“As far as we know it is the first time that all three managers have been from one club,” said Wade Ferguson, chairman of Brakpan Mines Bowling Club.
The club’s sole women’s representative in the Ekurhuleni Women’s B-side will be Amelia Oelofse.
Thinus Oelofse has also been selected to represent the Proteas at the Six Nations International tournament in Christchurch, New Zealand from March 6 to March 11.
- Anybody who is interested in learning to play bowls is welcome to attend the free weekly Friday afternoon coaching clinics at Brakpan Mines Bowling Club from 2.30pm.
