Welterweight Grand Prix clash coming up
The second fight in the EFC welterweight Grand Prix takes place between Luke Michael and Conrad Seabi.
A fight initially scheduled for EFC 78 in Cape Town was postponed by just over a day as Seabi injured himself during his weight cut.
It has become one of the most anticipated fights in recent memory and is just adding to the enormity of EFC 80 on June 29 at Carnival City, Johannesburg.
The first time the two were set to meet was at EFC 76 in Seabi’s home town, Pretoria, but Michael withdrew with a knee injury.
Seabi, determined to soldier on, welcomed the new challenge in Brazil’s Jose Da Rocha. The welterweight Grand Prix was then announced and Seabi and Michael rescheduled.

This time in Michael’s home town, Cape Town at EFC 78. Again, the bout didn’t happen as Seabi fell and hit his head with just over 24 hours before the fight.
EFC medical officials did not clear him to compete and the fight was rescheduled for EFC 80.
“We are in Jozi now and he doesn’t have to fly anywhere. Conrad better show up,” stated a motivated Michael when asked about the rescheduling.
With Themba Gorimbo claiming the first spot in the finals in a dramatic battle against Jose Da Rocha, on June 29 we will find out who will face the Zimbabwean in the finals for the vacant EFC welterweight championship.
However, Seabi decided to interrupt Gorimbo’s celebrations at the postevent press conference with some choice words of his own.
Michael is not concerned about his opponent’s antics.

“I’m 100 per cent focused on my EFC 80 fight for now. After that I will become the EFC welterweight champion.
“Both these guys are just in my way to the top. I will do whatever it takes to be champion. It is my destiny. On June 29, I get one step closer.”
Michael might be young, but he has been competing in MMA almost his entire life.
An undefeated amateur champion, he quickly rose through the ranks after signing with EFC.
He is on the precipice of the biggest fight of his career and close to realising his lifelong dream.
“This is my time!” “I have waited for so long to get my hands on that disrespectful old man (Seabi). I will finish him. I will show the world my true potential and claim EFC gold after I am done with Conrad,” Michael concluded.
This fight takes place on the main card just ahead of the interim middleweight title fight between Garreth McLellan and Brendan Lesar and the #TF2 Finale.
