Relief as youth games go ahead
There were netball and football tournaments on display.
With Covid-19 cancelling many club sports, the completion of the Youth Month Community Sports Games, last Wednesday, came as a relief.
The games were held in honour of Premier Soccer League player Given Msimango. The TS Galagy defender was present to inspire the juniors at the Leachville Sports Grounds.
Spectators were treated to junior netball and football tournaments across different age categories.
Leachville Shooters dominated the netball tournaments as they won the u-13, u-15 and u-17 categories.
The club won two of the soccer tournaments as well.
Results for the soccer tournament are as follows:
• U-11: 1 Leachville Shooters, 2 Dalpark Stars FC
• U-13: 1 Leachville Shooters, 2 Dolphins FC
• U-15: 1 Brakpan Dolphins FC, 2 Leachville Shooters
• U-17: 1 Brakpan Spurs, 2 Brakpan Dolphins FC
Results for the netball tournament are as follows:
• U-11: 1 Leachville Shooters, 2 Mandleni
• U-13: 1 Leachville Shooters, 2 Wyekies
• U-17: 1 Leachville Shooters, 2 Mandleni
