Top choirs to sing for great prize
In celebration of great choral music, the Ekurhuleni Metro Pot Choral Festival will be held in Carnival City’s Big Top Arena on Saturday, October 19.

Ten choirs will battle it out for first place, and the opportunity to win the grand prize of R250 000, the biggest prize ever offered for a choral competition in South Africa.
South Africa’s top choirs that will do musical battle on stage include Voices of the Nation, Gauteng Choristers, Kopano Chorus, Mathews Singers, Transnet Port Terminal Choir, Belcanto Voices, Heavenly Voices, SA Singers, Clermont Community Choir and African Chorus.
The audience will have an opportunity to vote for the choir of their choice and auditors will be there to count the votes.
The choir with the most votes will also win an OR Tambo Award.
The Big Top Arena is expected to have choral and classical music audience members from Swaziland, Mozambique, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia and plenty of local choral music lovers.
To add more flavour to this entertainment, the Afro Tenors, Cenastra Male Choir, Tembisa High School, Injula Yomculo Choir, Fumana High School and Mbizana Village School Choir will also bring more excitement to this event.
