New council chairs elected

The City of Ekurhuleni had to fill the posts in order to ensure continuity in its structures.

Council opened its doors on Thursday, last week, with its first sitting for the year 2020.

Following the vacancies created by some councillors joining the Gauteng Provincial Legislature, as well as the National Assembly, the City of Ekurhuleni had to fill the posts in order to ensure continuity in its structures.

Clr Romeo Mokone was elected as the new chairperson of the Oversight Committee over the Mayor and Legislature (OCMOL) replacing Clr Sizakele Masuku who was elected chairperson of the Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC).

Additionally, Clr Francis Mnguni has been sworn in, replacing alderman Neil Diamond who resigned last year.
