From fairways to futures: Charity golf day aims to transform lives

Businesses, golfers and community members are invited to take part in a day of golf and giving to help fund life-changing initiatives.

Dalpark-based The Lazarus Legacy Foundation (LLF) will host its ninth annual charity golf day at The Lake Club Benoni on September 11.

The proceeds raised from this event will enable the foundation to continue its mission of creating sustainable change and empowering communities through various developmental initiatives.

LLF works closely with government, private sector organisations, and community stakeholders to deliver meaningful and lasting impact in the following areas:

  • Education: empowering learners through tutoring, mentorship, educational support, and bursary opportunities.
  • Community building: promoting social cohesion and implementing initiatives that strengthen families and communities.
  • Health and welfare: providing support and resources to vulnerable individuals and families through health and welfare programmes.
  • Economic development: encouraging entrepreneurship, skills development, and economic participation within communities.

LLF is proud to share that the funds raised during the 2025 golf day played a significant role in supporting the foundation’s programmes throughout the year.

These included awarding bursaries to deserving students, operating their weekly soup kitchen, which serves more than 600 people each week, providing monthly grocery vouchers to families in need, and sustaining the organisation’s daily operations.

The primary goal of this year’s golf day is to raise funds that will allow the foundation to continue investing in education, assist learners with school-related needs, expand and maintain their community garden project, support young girls through the provision of sanitary products, and increase their involvement with identified orphanages and child-care initiatives.

There are many ways to get involved and support this event, including:

  • Registering a four-ball team, competing against other teams, and enjoying the day
  • Sponsoring a golf hole
  • Sponsoring the golf shirts
  • Sponsoring the halfway house vouchers
  • Sponsoring the prize-giving dinner.
