Armed robbery attempt foiled at Cash Crusaders in Carletonville CBD

Attempted armed robbery in a Carletonville store foiled by quick-thinking staff member.

A group of thugs tried to rob a business in the Carletonville CBD this week.

The incident took place on September 14.

An employee of Cash Crusaders in Emerald Street was busy helping customers at approximately 11:40.

Suddenly, three unknown men walked in. Two of them wore two-piece overalls.
They walked up to the counter, sat down and said that they wanted to pawn cellphones.
When the employee, however, asked for their IDs, they jumped up pulled out firearms.

“Move to the back of the store,” they ordered.

The employee, thinking fast, triggered an alarm.

This caused the robbers to panic and run away empty-handed.

They jumped into a Mazda CX-5 and raced away.

The police later determined that this getaway vehicle had false number plates.
