Carletonville cinema reopens with premiere of local film Game Changers

This is a local film by Thabo “Mahavatar” Ramaine, and promises to revive the town’s entertainment scene.

Carletonville’s long-silent cinema at the Sports Complex is about to burst back to life, thanks to the highly anticipated local film Game Changers. The premiere, set for Friday, August 30, is being hailed as a major boost for the entertainment culture in Merafong.

The project is the brainchild of local producer and director Thabo “Mahavatar” Ramaine, who filmed Game Changers earlier this year. The production recently enjoyed a private screening at Elijah Barayi, attended by the cast and crew, and is now ready to wow the public.

“This is going to be something special for our community,” says Ramaine. “We want film lovers to come out, support the launch, and be part of history.”

Tickets are already on sale and excitement has been growing following the release of the official trailer. Ramaine says audiences can expect more than just a movie – this is a revival of local storytelling and a celebration of homegrown talent.

The premiere marks a significant moment for Carletonville, offering residents not only an exclusive cinema experience but also a chance to rally behind local creatives and their stories.
