The Matric Experience brings local businesses together to reward Merafong’s top matric achievers

A collaboration of Carletonville beauty, fashion and photography businesses is sponsoring deserving matric learners while offering discounted matric packages to other students.

A group of Carletonville businesses has joined forces to ensure deserving matric learners enjoy a memorable matric farewell while giving back to the community that supports them.

Known as The Matric Experience (TME), the initiative was launched earlier this year after several local entrepreneurs recognised the challenges many matric learners face when preparing for their farewell events.

The collaboration brings together make-up artists, photographers, hairdressers, fashion designers and nail technicians, allowing learners to access a complete range of matric farewell services through one coordinated team.

To introduce the initiative, the group has visited schools across Carletonville to raise awareness and explain how local businesses are working together to support the community.

TME is currently selecting one or two top-achieving learners from each school in the Merafong area. These learners will receive sponsorships covering the services offered by all the participating businesses at no cost.

According to the team, the initiative grew from years of individual businesses referring clients to one another before deciding to formalise the partnership.

“This is a collaboration between local businesses because we believe businesses should give back to the communities that support them. This is our way of saying thank you for your support,” the team said.

The long-term vision is to expand The Matric Experience to other provinces while building a trusted brand that provides a convenient one-stop service for special events.

The initiative is open to learners from all schools and all communities. Sponsored learners will be encouraged to showcase their own unique styles and designs.

In addition to the sponsorship programme, TME is offering a special matric package for other learners. Those who book the entire team before September will receive a 10% discount from each participating service provider.

The group is also planning a fashion show and a mini podcast to showcase the initiative and share the experiences of participating learners and businesses.
