Wedela man sentenced to 10 years for fatal 2020 stabbing

The incident occurred after an argument broke out while Nkendlana and friends were walking home from a tavern.

A man from Wedela was sentenced for a murder he committed two years ago.

According to Sergeant Noni Sontyali of the Wedela Detectives, Zethu Nkendlana (29) appeared in the Fochville Magistrate’s Court on November 20. He was found guilty and sentenced to ten years’ direct imprisonment for the crime.

The sentence stems from an incident that took place on February 15, 2020.

Nkendlana, a resident of Magalies Place in Wedela, was walking home with friends on 4th Avenue after they had visited Harry’s Tavern.

An argument broke out between the men, and Nkendlana stabbed Oyama Ndunge (17) several times. He died at the scene.

Nkendlana previously pleaded not guilty and has been in custody since his arrest in 2020.
