Fochville Civic Centre’s neglected exterior
While the municipality has repaired parts of the interior for major events, the building’s exterior remains stained, cracked, and poorly maintained, with overgrown gardens and parking areas adding to the eyesore.
What is supposed to be the neatest building in Fochville, and something residents can be proud of, has turned into an ugly place that certainly does not give a good impression to visitors.
Residents of Fochville have been complaining for years that the Fochville Civic Centre is looking worse by the day.
Even though the Merafong City Local Municipality has fixed the main hall and toilets for big functions such as the launch of its Merafong Vision 2035 campaign, it has not done anything to renovate the outside of the building.

The building is stained, the plaster is cracking, and, in some places, even falling off. Even the sign on the sidewalk next to Losberg Avenue is cracked and dirty, and the lettering is rusted.
On January 23, the grass and weeds in the front garden were about a metre high in places. Various areas of the parking lot are also overgrown with grass and weeds.
The Herald asked the municipality’s marketing and communications manager, Temba Fezani, when the facility will be cleaned and renovated, but no response was received by printing time.
