Carletonville detectives probe attempted murder after gunfire at Railway Station
Security officers ambushed while patrolling near Oberholzer Railway Station.
Carletonville detectives are investigating a case of attempted murder following an incident in Carletonville this week.
On February 13, at approximately 21:00, members of Sinqobile Equestrian Security Services were patrolling the Oberholzer railway station.
They were inside their patrol vehicle, a white Isuzu bakkie, when unknown attackers started shooting at them in the dark.
The security officers shot back in the direction from which the shots had come. After some time, they realised the attackers had gone and inspected their vehicle.
They found that it had been hit three times on the left side and went to the police in Carletonville to report the case. Police discovered various empty bullet cartridges, including those of the rifle used by the attackers, at the scene.
