Armed robbery shocks Khutsong Ext 5 couple in midnight home invasion

Masked suspects tie up residents and flee with cellphones, clothing and food.

A couple from Khutsong Ext 5 had a harrowing experience on February 11.

The man (32) and his wife, living in the 60s area of the township, were woken up when three armed men stormed into their room at approximately 00:30.

The thugs, wearing masks and speaking Sesotho and isiXhosa and were armed with a rifle, pistol and a knife. They tied the couple up and searched the house. The thugs grabbed cellphones, clothing and food before fleeing on foot.

Police investigations found the thugs had gained entry to the house by forcing a security door open.
