Robbers blow up ATM

Not even businesses in Oberholzer are safe from these criminals.

A gang of violent criminals blew up the ATM at a filling station in Carletonville last week.

The incident happened at the Caltex filling station at the corner of Ada and Beerster Streets just after the bridge on Thursday, 28 March.

A security guard was on duty when he heard a noise outside at about 01:00. He checked to see what was happening and suddenly saw two unknown men approaching.

They pulled out firearms and pointed them at him.

“Lie down,” they commanded.

More robbers arrived, and they started breaking the shop open. Although they went in and blew up the ATM in the shop, the criminals could not get any money out of it.

The ten armed robbers then took money from the register and cigarettes from the counter before running away.
