Murder suspect Mabutho Zulu still at large after 16-year-old girl is found dead

Public urged to assist with information but avoid approaching him directly.

The Wedela community is reeling after the murder of a 16-year-old girl, whose body was discovered near the N12 on May 21, just a day after her mother reported her missing.

Local police have since launched a full-scale manhunt for Mabutho Zulu, the girl’s alleged boyfriend and the primary suspect in the case. Zulu, believed to be in his late 20s, is still on the run.

According to the Wedela SAPS, the girl was reported missing on the afternoon of May 20, prompting a large-scale search. The tragic discovery of her body has triggered widespread grief and outrage across the community, with residents demanding swift justice.

“Your vigilance and assistance are vital in helping us bring justice to this young girl and her grieving family,” said a SAPS spokesperson.

Authorities have urged members of the public not to approach Zulu if spotted, but to report any information that could assist in his capture.
