SAVF Fochville Retirement Village upgrades facility to help more pensioners
The new wing is ideal for couples or friends sharing and includes senior-friendly features.
The SAVF Fochville Retirement Village is expanding its services with the upgrade of an existing building, offering more options for independent pensioners seeking privacy and comfort.
According to Lynette Eybers, manager of the retirement village, the revamped building—once a hall with six-bed sections—is now being transformed into a more private wing for elderly individuals who are not frail but no longer as strong as they used to be.
“This upgrade is perfect for pensioners who still want to maintain some independence but need a little support,” said Eybers. “It’s also ideal for couples or friends who want to share a room.”
The new wing includes senior-friendly features such as higher-set electrical plugs to assist residents who have difficulty bending, and shower controls with external levers that allow users to set the water temperature before stepping in.
“We are very proud of the service that we will be able to render through transforming the old hall into the new facility,” Eybers added.
Aside from this new development, SAVF Fochville Retirement Village continues to offer various levels of care. The facility is home to many elderly residents, supported by a dedicated team of four qualified nurses and 22 trained health workers who provide 24-hour medical care.
The expansion is part of the village’s ongoing commitment to meet the changing needs of the elderly community in Fochville.
