A local film maker was recognized for his hard work during the ”From Mind To Page Award Writers Awards” at the Carletonville Civic Centre on Saturday November 29.

The event was held at the Carletonville Civic Centre and hosted by Majestic Media Collective. It was a night of honour filled with respected national authors, recognising those who are gifted in writing . A hardworking film maker from Khutsong, Thabo Ramaine, known as Mahavatar Ascendant, won an award in the category of Winner for Best Writer in Film.

He is a well-respected screenwriter, film producer, director, cinematographer, a film editor and a Cinema Curator and his integrated skills has brought Merafong and South Africa authentic stories on screen as well as on stage as he is also a theatre actor and dancer.

“I will keep bringing you authentic stories and your support has encouraged me to do more of the stories,” he expressed.

It was mentioned that Mahavatar is undoubtedly Carletonville’s best and most gifted Film Maker to date and after the awards he has solidified his position in film making. His recent film was the Game Changers which is a local production promoting local actors and dancers which was launched at the Kine cinema at Sports Complex.
