Staff at Carletonville Hospital notified the police that a man who had been severely assaulted had died at the facility.
The deceased had several blunt force injuries to his head and passed away due to these injuries.
The deceased was dropped off at the facility by unknown residents. It is alleged that community members assaulted this man after he was caught trying to break into a house at East Driefontein.
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
