Elderly woman tied up during volent home robbery in Carletonville

Police in Carletonville are investigating a house robbery after an 80-year-old woman was attacked and tied up in her Reinecke Street home.

An 80-year-old woman was attacked in Carletonville last week.

The pensioner was in her home in Reinecke Street at approximately 16:00 on December 30.

She was in her bedroom when she heard a loud noise at her front door. Suddenly, four unknown men stormed into her house after breaking open her front door.

The thugs, who wore rubber gloves, were armed with a crowbar and an axe.

They told the pensioner to stay quiet and then asked where the safe and money were.

When the pensioner replied that she did not have a safe, the thugs took her to another room. They told her to lie down and tied her with a belt.

The criminals then ransacked her house and grabbed a variety of electrical equipment, which they loaded into a white VW Polo and sped off.

The pensioner managed to walk to her daughter, who stays in a flat in her backyard, to get help.

The police in Carletonville are investigating a house robbery.
