A relaxing evening turned into a nightmare for a local couple after armed robbers stormed their property in Khutsong Ext 5 in the early hours of January 18. A 39-year-old woman and her husband were sitting outside their home in the “80s” section of the township, enjoying a few drinks, when they were suddenly approached by three unknown men.

The strangers pulled out handguns and demanded cash and mobile phones. Initially, the wife believed the men were playing a prank and laughed at the demand. The danger of the situation only became clear when one of the men fired two shots into the ground. The attackers then forced the couple inside their house.

After a frantic search of the property, the robbers fled the scene on foot, carrying two mobile phones. No injuries were reported.

The police are investigating a house robbery case.
