Case against Carletonville teens in viral assault video withdrawn

The assault case against two teenagers linked to a widely shared social media video of an attack in Carletonville has been withdrawn after the complainant decided not to pursue charges.

The case against the two boys who were arrested in Carletonville in connection with a video of an assault that was shared widely on social media has been withdrawn.

According to a trustworthy source, the complainant withdrew the case of assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm against the two boys, respectively aged 14 and 15.

One is a resident of Carletonville, while the other was a visitor from Klerksdorp.

According to the source, the complainant, has recovered after the incident and felt that he did not want to ruin the boys’ lives because they are still so young.

In the video, the two boys can be seen walking towards the victim (18). Even though this boy tries to turn away from them, the one boy hits him so hard on the right side of his head that he falls.

The same boy then kicks him in the head while he is still on the ground.
