Missing Carletonville pensioner sought after hospital discharge mystery

Police appeal for help locating 77-year-old Kgatatso Norman Nkachela, who vanished after being discharged from hospital following a road accident

Police are calling on the public to help find a 77-year-old man who has been missing since September 2025.
Kgatatso Norman Nkachela, a resident of the Elijah Barayi housing complex, disappeared following a road accident.
According to Warrant Officer Sibusiso Lunga, Mr. Nkachela was hit by a car and initially taken to Carletonville Hospital. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later moved to Leratong Hospital.
The alarm was raised when his younger brother went to visit him at Leratong, only to discover that the pensioner had already been discharged.
The family, who have opened a formal case with the police, are deeply worried for his safety. Investigations have revealed that Mr Nkachela has not withdrawn any of his pension money since the accident.
Police believe he may be confused as a result of his injuries and could have forgotten his identity or where he lives.
If you have seen Mr Nkachela or have any information regarding his whereabouts, contact Warrant Officer Lunga immediately on 083 733 2405 or 018 787 9374.
