Carletonville police bid farewell to veteran officer after 35 years of service

Warrant Officer Eddie Kuhn retires after more than three decades of dedicated and unblemished service to the Carletonville community.

Members of the police in Carletonville said goodbye to one of their respected colleagues.
On March 27, members working at the Carletonville Police Station said goodbye to Warrant Officer Eddie Kuhn, who had been working as an official at the SAPS13 store.
According to Sergeant Thabo Mathebula, the Carletonville SAPS Social Crime Prevention and Domestic Violence
Co-ordinator, they held a special function for Kuhn as it was his last day at work before retirement.
“All members described him as a quiet police officer who served the community for more than 35 years. During this time, he had never been charged departmentally or criminally,” says Mathebula.
Kuhn also received the opportunity to say farewell to his colleagues.
“I have mixed emotions. I am happy for leaving the SAPS to rest, but I am sad that I’m leaving my family behind, the people I have been with for many years who have become like my children, brothers, and sisters. If it were my choice, I would stay for another year,” Kuhn added.
He even volunteered to help the officer who was taking over his work.
