Anticipation is building as the annual Best of Merafong Awards prepares to launch next month, prompting residents to begin considering their top picks for nomination.

Hosted by the Carletonville and Fochville Herald, the Best of Merafong Awards celebrates top businesses and service providers in the Merafong area, based entirely on public nominations and votes. Whether it’s your favourite restaurant, hair salon, mechanic, retail store, or any other local gem, this is your opportunity to give them the recognition they’ve earned.

Nominations for the 2026 Best of Merafong Awards, which are being held for the third consecutive year, will open on May 18 and close on June 8. As in the past, a special feature will appear in the Carletonville and Fochville Herald on August 6, when voting will also open.

This year’s voting will continue until August 27, and the winners will be announced during a special function on September 18. These awards do more than hand out titles — they spotlight businesses that go above and beyond, encourage others to raise their standards, and ultimately help boost the local economy in Carletonville, Fochville, and surrounding areas.
