Thousands flock to Elijah Barayi for thrilling Easter Soccer Tournament

City All Stars crowned champions as top talent shines at annual Easter showdown in Merafong

The sports field at the Elijah Barayi mega housing complex was packed with thousands of spectators during a recent annual Easter tournament.

The event was a huge success with various teams participating.

The tournament was organised by Kasi Live Sports.

Teams from Merafong, as well as outside towns such as Johannesburg, took part.

The action started on April 4 and continued to April 6.

In the end, a team from Johannesburg, City All Stars, beat Owasome 1–0 in the finals. Happy Boys was third.

Bongani Tshabalala won the Leading Goal Scorer and Player of the Tournament awards, while Olwethu Ndlovu walked off with the prize of Young Player of the Tournament. Mandla was the best goalkeeper.

Various companies involved in the local mining and construction industries helped to sponsor the tournament, while the Gauteng Department of Sports, Arts and Recreation also supported the event. Various local councillors, such as the Deputy Mayor, Mogomotsi Sello, also supported and attended at times.
