Wedela Police host impactful school outreach to inspire learners at Wedela Technical High

Law enforcement officials and parolees share real-life experiences to encourage discipline, respect, and focus on education.

Police officers from Wedela recently teamed up with other law enforcement officials to lead a powerful event at Wedela Technical High School that left a lasting impression on the students.

The visit featured a large delegation including Wedela station commander Captain Wayne Pestana and Sergeant Zikhona Sifuba along with several warrant officers and representatives from the Youth Desk and community safety teams.

The day was made particularly memorable by the presence of Warrant Officer Bili from the Department of Correctional Services who was joined by two parolees named Themba Radebe and Chumani Makata.
These men shared their personal stories and hard-earned knowledge about the realities of life behind bars.

“The two parolees also engaged with the learners and told them about how life is inside the prison and how people outside the prison label them,”said Sifuba.

Sifuba further explained that the main goal was to encourage the pupils to focus entirely on their studies and show proper respect to their teachers.

During the visit the police also introduced the local junior commissioner and described how that role supports the school community.

“We hope that the learners have heard what every speaker told them and that they will obey and respect their teachers and parents.

The principal of Wedela was pleased that we did the talk. The Wedela station commander thanked everyone who came and also thanked the principal for allowing us into the school, and also the school kids for listening,” Sifuba concluded.

A total of 561 learners participated in the outreach session.
