Carletonville ‘accident’ revealed as murder after man found with stab wounds
Police investigation uncovers foul play after victim, initially believed to be hit by a taxi, is linked to a stabbing near the Carletonville Taxi Rank.
What at first seemed to be an accident turned out to be a murder in Carletonville over the past long weekend.
The police in Carletonville were notified about a man taken to Carletonville Hospital at about 23:40 on the night of April 25. The man, who passed away on arrival at the hospital, had apparently been hit by a minibus taxi close to the Carletonville Taxi Rank. When the police started their investigations, it became clear that this was not a typical accident.
The minibus driver told police that the man had been lying in Onyx Drive near the taxi rank. The driver had taken the victim to the hospital himself.
Authorities also determined that the victim had two stab wounds in his chest.
Knowing this, the police went to the accident scene and followed the man’s blood trail to the nearby Jumbo Tavern inside the taxi rank.
