Armed robbers raid Blue Bell Wholesalers in Carletonville

Four masked suspects overpowered a security guard, broke open a safe, and fled with money and stolen goods during an early morning robbery in Platinum Street.

Thugs struck a business in Carletonville during the early morning hours of April 29. The incident took place at Blue Bell Wholesalers in Platinum Street while a guard was on duty.

The guard was inside his booth when two masked men suddenly knocked on the door. Although the guard managed to hide his phone, he did not have enough time to press the panic button before the men forced the booth door open. The armed attackers grabbed the guard and pulled him outside.

They then broke into the store, where two accomplices armed with tools joined them. All four robbers wore balaclavas and spoke Shangaan.

The robbers tied the guard up and kept him inside the shop with them. While the thieves kept watch, one of the men sat in the guard booth to avoid suspicion.

The remaining robbers used equipment to grind open the shop’s safe. They took all the money from inside, stole several boxes of cigarettes, and fled the scene.

Once the robbers had left, the guard managed to untie himself and call his colleagues for help.
