Khutsong man arrested after two women shot dead in suspected domestic violence incident

A 51-year-old suspect appeared in the Carletonville Magistrate’s Court after allegedly shooting his wife and her friend in Khutsong Extension 5.

Two women were killed in Khutsong Ext 5 in what seems to be a domestic violence-related incident this week.

The crime took place on May 24.

According to a trustworthy source, a 41-year-old woman was visiting her friend (40) and her husband (51). At approximately 16:10, a neighbour heard several gunshots and saw the 40-year-old woman running from her yard, screaming that her husband had a gun.

She ran to her next-door neighbour, with her husband chasing after her. They had just run into this house when neighbours heard more gunshots.

Soon afterwards, the husband came out of this house and walked to his own home. He took his two children and drove off.

The neighbours immediately notified the police in Carletonville, who started a lookout for his vehicle.Members of the Carletonville Crime Prevention Unit spotted the suspect’s car, arrested him, and confiscated his licensed firearm. His children were handed over to family members.

Police determined that the man had shot both his wife and her friend. Both passed away from their wounds at the scene.

This suspect appeared on two murder charges in the Carletonville Magistrate’s Court on May 25.
