Motorists are advised to avoid the area of the big four-way crossing at the R500 road between Fochville and Parys and the R54 between Potchefstroom and Vereeniging.

A huge accident between a truck and a minibus taxi occurred at this crossing earlier this morning. According to emergency services eight people passed away at the scene. Another patient passed away in hospital.

Seven other patients were taken to hospitals in Gauteng and Parys by the Gauteng Emergency Medical Services, and ambulance from Gladiator Distress Alert and ambulances of ER24.

Please rather use alternative roads as the truck is still lying in the road.
