Fake police officers kidnap and rob Carletonville man

A 22-year-old Carletonville resident was allegedly robbed and kidnapped by a group posing as police officers after they arrived at his home in marked and unmarked vehicles shortly after midnight.

A 22-year-old man from Begonia Street in Carletonville was robbed and kidnapped from his home in an unusual incident this week.

The resident was at home when he heard a knock on his door just after midnight on the morning of May 27.

When he opened the door, he was met by six police officers, including two women.

The group had arrived at the property in two marked police bakkies and two unmarked sedans.

The suspects handcuffed the man, demanded money, and searched his home.

They then forced him into his own car, an Audi A3, and drove him to Roodepoort to point out where a friend lived.

Fortunately, the suspects eventually let the man go and allowed him to keep his vehicle. Carletonville detectives are now investigating cases of house robbery and kidnapping.
