Wedela police conduct drug awareness campaign at primary school

Wedela police officers visited Xhobani Primary School to educate learners about the dangers of drug use and vaping, reaching hundreds of children during a school-wide awareness campaign.

Members of the police in Wedela held a drug awareness outreach at one of the primary schools.

According to Wedela’s social crime prevention officer Sergeant Zikhona Sifuba, they held a drug awareness campaign at Xhobani Primary School on May 19.

The group, which included the domestic violence co-ordinator, Sergeant Makinta, members from Supply Chain, Community Safety, and the Youth Desk, arrived at the school at approximately 09:00.

They not only searched the learners, but also spoke to them about the dangers of using drugs.

“The principal was complaining that some of the children have started to vape. We told them about the dangers of smoking. We found nothing on our search,” Sifuba added.

The group searched nine classes and reached about 445 learners.
