Carletonville police seek help to identify woman found dead near R500

Detectives are appealing to the public for information after the decomposed body of an unidentified woman was discovered in the veld outside Carletonville.

Detectives in Carletonville are appealing for information to help identify a woman whose body was found just outside the town earlier this week.

A cyclist made the grim discovery on the morning of June 9 while travelling down the R500 towards the four-way crossing near the 007 shopping complex.

He noticed what appeared to be a person lying near the road and went to investigate, discovering the decomposed body of a woman in the veld.

The woman, believed to be in her early 30s, had been dead for approximately five days when she was found. She was wearing maroon trousers, black shoes, a grey vest, and a black jacket.

Due to severe injuries to her face, police believe she was brutally assaulted before her death and most likely dumped at the scene. At the time of going to print, the woman’s identity remains unknown.

Anyone who has information regarding her identity, or who may know who killed her, is urged to contact the Carletonville Police immediately.
